There has been A LOT of change in my life recently. It has been exciting and refreshing and a little bit scary at times, if I am honest. But the thing about me and change is that I know for me to grow and get to that next stage in my life – I need it.
I thrive off knowing that I’m about to do something new and something that will challenge me. I thrive off knowing the positive impact change has on my life and my inner well-being.
Because let’s face it – life gets boring and repetitive, and without change and stepping outside your comfort zone, you will be in the same position that you are right now, in a month and in five years.
If you change nothing, nothing will change.
Often people fear change because the outcome is unknown. No matter how small or big the change may be, stepping into unfamiliarity can be scary. Because YES, we don’t know what is going to happen.
We constantly think, ‘what if I fail?’ or ‘what if it’s hard?’. Everyone, including myself, need to change our thinking to ‘what if I succeed?’ or ‘what if this is the best thing that ever happens to me?’
Look at change as a new and EXCITING beginning because the unknown isn’t scary but full of endless possibilities.
Now, I don’t think that most people necessarily struggle with knowing when it’s time for a change, but rather people are scared of what they will leave behind. Change isn’t easy and isn’t something that a lot of people find comfortable. It involves putting yourself first and often leaving things or people behind.
It’s important to remember that your happiness depends on nobody but yourself. It may require you to be a little selfish and do something others don’t approve of, but this is needed for you to become your best self.
Make your happiness a priority, and don’t look at what you will lose but rather what you will gain.
I’m glad you asked 😉
For me, knowing when I need a change looks like a couple of things. First, I have a constant feeling of boredom and feeling unsatisfied with what is happening around me. This turns into me feeling down and depressed.
Next is that I lose motivation and lack creativity in things that I usually love or inspire me. Overall, I feel really out of place and know something is just off.
Although, instead of looking at this as a bad thing, I accept that something needs to change in my life and am open to new opportunities.
If you feel this way, don’t think you need to make some drastic change in your life to be happier. It can be something as small as changing your morning routine, getting outside more, and trying to be more positive.
Change won’t happen overnight, but it can happen quicker than you think if you take small steps every day to break some old habits and start some new ones. Having goals are great, but it’s the small steps, or habits, that are really having an impact on your long-term growth. Take this time to think about your daily habits currently. Are they helping you grow and be more productive?
We all love to sit on our couch and think about our dream life and what we would love to do and be and see. Many of us know we need a change in our lives. We also know how to get there. BUT we live in a world of procrastination.
So, nothing crazy here other than just start. Stop procrastinating and stop complaining and just start – do something, anything. Once again, if you do nothing, NOTHING WILL CHANGE.
Change doesn’t happen overnight. As much as I would love to get a six-pack by tomorrow morning, it doesn’t work that way.
Being consistent is the key to success. Even when you don’t feel like doing whatever it is, do it. Get in the habit of a consistent morning routine and get in a state of focus first thing in the morning.
